Sheriff’s Office Acknowledges Statewide Honor Awarded to Sgt. Pamela Bryan

STATEWIDE SRO SPOTLIGHT: Sgt. Pamela Bryan Recognized by NC Center for Safer Schools

 

Columbus County, NC — The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that Sgt. Pamela Bryan, Supervisor of the School Resource Officer (SRO) Division, has been featured in the January 2026 NC Center for Safer Schools Newsletter as part of the statewide SRO Spotlight.

This recognition highlights Sgt. Bryan’s longstanding commitment to school safety and her exceptional leadership within the Sheriff’s Office. With many years of experience as an SRO, she brings professionalism, compassion, and a deep understanding of school environments to her supervisory role. She ensures that every school in Columbus County is supported by a well‑trained and well‑prepared School Resource Officer.

A mother of four sons — three graduates of West Columbus High School and one current junior — Sgt. Bryan understands the importance of safe schools from both a professional and personal perspective. She dedicates extensive time to visiting campuses, supporting deputies, identifying potential security concerns, and collaborating with school administrators. Her commitment extends beyond the school day, as she frequently attends after‑hours events and athletic activities to help maintain a safe environment for students, staff, and families.

Under her leadership, the SRO Division –The largest unit within the Sheriff’s Office with 17 deputies — operates with strong organization, proactive planning, and a focus on early intervention. Her efforts help address concerns before they escalate and contribute to safer school communities across Columbus County.

The Sheriff’s Office extends its appreciation to Columbus County Schools for nominating Sgt. Bryan and to the NC Center for Safer Schools for recognizing her outstanding service. Sgt. Bryan is proudly acknowledged for her dedication to both Columbus County Schools and Whiteville City Schools, the students and faculty she serves, and the deputies she leads.

Sheriff Bill Rogers praised Sgt. Bryan’s leadership, stating:
“Sgt. Bryan represents what it means to serve with integrity, compassion, and dedication. Her leadership has strengthened the safety of our schools and the confidence of our communities. We are incredibly grateful for her commitment to our students, our deputies, and the families of Columbus County.”
