North Myrtle Beach: Grand Opening Set for Cypress Nook Disc Golf Course

North Myrtle Beach Parks and Rec

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC — The City of North Myrtle Beach will hold a grand opening ceremony Friday, June 26, at 10 AM for the new Cypress Nook Disc Golf Course, located inside the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex at 150 Citizens Circle, Little River.

Cypress Nook is built within a wooded section of the complex and is designed as a technical, precision‑focused course. Fairways wind through stands of mature cypress and slash pine, with narrow lines, limited room for error, and notable elevation changes that influence shot selection. The layout offers a scenic but demanding experience for both recreational and competitive players.

Parking and access to Hole No. 1 are available from the soccer parking lot near the Segway Building.

The course includes posted etiquette and safety guidelines. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult, pets must remain leashed, and the park prohibits alcohol, smoking, and glass containers. Visitors are also advised to watch for snakes and insects in wooded areas.

The Park & Sports Complex uses a Weatherbug lightning detection system. A blue light and audible alert indicate lightning within 10 miles, requiring play to pause until a white light signals safe conditions.

City officials say the addition of Cypress Nook strengthens the Park & Sports Complex’s role as a regional destination for outdoor recreation, sports tourism, and family‑friendly activities.

For questions or park information, the Park Office can be reached at 843.281.3800 or the Park Phone at 843.582.4870
