County Moves Forward; Proposed Sale of Acme‑Delco Property to Columbus Regional

COLUMBUS COUNTY SEAL

Public notice period begins; final vote set for June 29

COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC — County Commissioners have taken a big step toward a potential $500k sale of county‑owned property in Acme‑Delco to Columbus Regional Healthcare System, unanimously approving a resolution and purchase agreement during their latest meeting.

The vote authorizes the county to begin the required public advertisement process, a legal step that must occur before any county property sale can be finalized. Commissioners are scheduled to consider final approval on June 29 at 9:00 a.m.

The action supports ongoing efforts by Columbus Regional Healthcare System to expand services in the southeastern part of the county. The health system has previously outlined interest in establishing a new medical facility in Acme‑Delco, citing the need to improve access for residents who often travel long distances for primary and specialty care.

If approved later this month, the sale would clear the way for the health system to move forward with planning and development at the site, marking a significant investment in a community that has historically lacked nearby healthcare options.
