Deputies say the charge represents North Carolina’s most serious impaired‑driving category.

SHALLOTTE, NC — Zachary Miller, 36, was arrested on June 3 and charged with aggravated level DWI, the most serious impaired‑driving category under North Carolina law. The charge is typically reserved for cases involving prior convictions, high impairment levels, or aggravating factors such as children in the vehicle.

Miller was booked into the Brunswick County Detention Center and released after a first appearance. Impaired‑driving arrests tend to increase during summer months as traffic and tourism rise across the county.

All individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Charges and case statuses may change as investigations and court proceedings continue.
