Valve replacements on Thursday will disrupt service for multiple streets.
WHITEVILLE, NC —Residents in parts of Whiteville should prepare for a temporary disruption in their water service this week.
According to an official notice issued by Reginald Stanley of the City of Whiteville Public Works Department, crews will be performing critical infrastructure maintenance that requires a temporary shutdown of local water utilities.
The service interruption is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 11. Water services are slated to be discontinued starting at 9:00 a.m., with city officials estimating that utility services should be fully restored by 4:00 p.m. the same day.
Municipal crews are executing the shutdown to accommodate a necessary valve replacement at the intersection of Madison Street and West Collage Street.
Due to the nature of the work, water outages and service disruptions will impact residents and businesses along Madison Street, Lee Street, and Franklin Street from Lewis Street to Smith Street.
The City of Whiteville has apologized for any inconvenience this infrastructure project may cause local residents.
Affected households are advised to secure water for essential consumption and sanitation needs ahead of the Thursday morning cutoff.
Residents who experience prolonged issues after the expected 4:00 p.m. restoration time, or those seeking additional information, are instructed to contact the Whiteville Public Works Department directly at 910.642.3422
