Horry County Sheriff’s Office takes 55‑year‑old Billy Jack Hanna into custody following early‑morning pursuit on Church Street
Horry County, SC — Horry County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Myrtle Beach man early Wednesday after he attempted to flee from law enforcement for the second time in seven months.
Deputies identified the suspect as Billy Jack Hanna, 55. Hanna was originally arrested on October 7, 2025, after a multi‑agency chase that began in Myrtle Beach and ended in the Cherry Grove area. At that time, he was served with an outstanding warrant for obtaining goods under false pretenses and charged with grand larceny and failure to stop for blue lights.
After Hanna failed to appear in court on May 19, 2026, a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
At approximately 5:30 a.m. on May 27, deputies located Hanna getting into a vehicle on Church Street in Myrtle Beach. When deputies attempted a traffic stop, he refused to pull over, prompting a brief pursuit through the area.
Hanna eventually returned to a residence on Church Street, where deputies took him into custody without further incident. He was transported to the J. Reuben Long Detention Center and charged with failure to stop for blue lights.
All individuals listed are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
