Myrtle Beach, NC — Horry County police are investigating the shooting death of 41‑year‑old Dannie Pigotte Jr. of Shallotte, who was killed early Saturday outside Magoo’s Sports & Spirits in Myrtle Beach.
Officials say Pigotte was shot multiple times in the parking lot in the early morning hours of May 2. He was taken to Grand Strand Medical Center, where he died. No suspect information has been released, and no arrests have been announced.
In a public statement posted on Facebook, Pigotte’s cousin Anne said the family has received “little to no information” from investigators in the days since the shooting. She called for transparency from Horry County authorities and urged media outlets to bring attention to the case.
According to her statement, Pigotte was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a son, a father, a nuclear engineer, and a business owner. She described him as a man of faith known for his calm demeanor and generosity.
Peoples Funeral Home of Shallotte has confirmed Pigotte’s death, with visitation and funeral arrangements now finalized.
The investigation remains active.
