OCEAN ISLE BEACH, NC – A multi-state investigation into a missing juvenile concluded on Monday with an arrest in Brunswick County.
On April 27, 2026, deputies with the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office were called to assist the Middletown Police Department out of Connecticut. Officials had been searching for a female juvenile who was first reported missing on April 9, 2026.
Following leads in the investigation, deputies located the juvenile at a residence on Ocean Isle Beach. She was found in the company of 51-year-old Justin Newman.
Newman was taken into custody and faces several felony charges, including: First Degree Kidnapping and Statutory Rape of a Child Under 15. Newman was booked into the Brunswick County Detention Center, where he currently remains.
Authorities have stated that this is an active and ongoing investigation. As detectives continue to review the evidence and coordinate with Connecticut officials, additional charges may be pending.
