Leland Planning Board to Review Highway 17 Overlay Expansion

Town of Leland

LELAND, NC – The Leland Planning Board will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, April 28, to consider a request that could expand the reach of the U.S. Highway 17 Overlay district.

The meeting is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at Leland Town Hall, located at 102 Town Hall Drive.

The board will review a Zoning Map Amendment submitted by Allen Industries Inc. regarding a specific parcel located at 3717 Leland Corners Drive. The property sits approximately 400 feet south of U.S. Highway 17.

Tax Parcel 047EC003

The primary objective of the request is to incorporate Tax Parcel 047EC003 into the existing U.S. Highway 17 Overlay district. Overlay districts typically impose additional design standards or usage requirements on top of the base zoning to ensure aesthetic consistency and managed growth along major corridors.

Leland officials are encouraging community members to attend and participate in the discussion. For those unable to attend in person, the town accepts written comments provided they are submitted at least 24 hours prior to the meeting date.

The Planning Board will evaluate the proposal and issue a formal recommendation following the hearing. Residents with specific questions regarding the case may contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 910.332.4297
