Bolton Man Charged After Disturbance at Boardman Gas Station

Berryon Larel Baulkman (Recently Booked)

BOARDMAN — A Bolton man was arrested Friday after deputies say he refused to leave a Boardman convenience store property and became combative during the encounter.

According to the Columbus County Sheriff’s Office, Berryon Larel Baulkman, 41, of 87 14th Street in Bolton, was taken into custody on March 27, 2026, following a disturbance at the Sun‑Do station off U.S. 74.

Deputies responded around 4:15 p.m. after receiving a report of a man and woman arguing inside a vehicle parked at the business. When deputies arrived, they found Baulkman still on the property and showing signs of impairment, the report stated. He was advised he would not be allowed to drive.

The store manager requested that Baulkman be banned from the property, but deputies say he refused to leave. When officers attempted to remove him from the vehicle, Baulkman allegedly resisted and became physically combative, resulting in injuries to two deputies.

Baulkman was charged with:

  • Second‑degree trespass
  • Resisting a public officer
  • Assault on a government official/employee (two counts)

He was initially booked into the Columbus County Detention Center under a $150,000 bond, which was later reduced to $25,000 during his first appearance.

Records also show Baulkman had been arrested earlier in the week in New Hanover County on a felony marijuana possession violation.

Baulkman is scheduled to appear in Columbus County District Court on the new charges.
