Robert McDuffie of Shallotte, formerly of Chadbourn and Whiteville, passed away on March 26, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Center in Bolivia, NC.

Robert was born on July 1, 1967, in Lumberton, NC and was the youngest son of Bobby & Retta McDuffie. He grew up in Chadbourn where he graduated from West Columbus and would go on to become an E & I Tech. In 1989, he married Charlotte Rawls of Whiteville NC and stayed happily married until his passing. They moved to Whiteville where they lived for over 30 years and raised three children. After raising a family, they moved to Shallotte in 2020 where he lived out the rest of his days doing what he enjoyed most, spending time with his grandkids.
Robert was not only an E & I Tech for more than 30 years, but also proud union member and retained EMS certifications. Robert loved his job and colleagues at International Paper, of which he had been employed since 1999. Robert enjoyed time with his grandchildren and going for sunset rides along the beaches. He was a classic car enthusiast and enjoyed fishing with his family; he also loved to travel with family, including numerous cruises, mountain trips, and numerous sporting events.
Robert was generous with his time volunteering to coach baseball and could be spotted giving other kids rides home or food when they were in need. He always had time to stop for a small conversation when spotted in town.
Robert was a loving husband, proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Charlotte as well as his children, Patrick (Lana) McDuffie, Stephen (Meagen) McDuffie, and Rae McDuffie; grandchildren, Lucy & Ryder McDuffie; father, Bobby McDuffie; siblings, Wanda (Reese) Soles, Billy (Darlene) McDuffie, Wayne (Cheryl) Sholar, Sandra(Craig) Palmer, Jerry Sholar, Elva Sholar, Connie(Aaron) Funches, Beck (Kevin) Sholar , Chrystal (Chris) White, Ronald Richardson JR, Randy Richardson, Tonya Richardson; sister-in-law, Gretchen (James) Sholar; brother-in-Law, Jonathan Rawls; nieces, RaeAnna (Seth) Britt and their son, Jax, Reaganne (Luke) Sholar, and Whitney Sholar,
Robert was preceded in death by his mothers, Betty Richardson and Retta McDuffie; siblings, Ray McDuffie and Thomas Edward McDuffie
Serving as Pallbearers will be Malton Tripp, Carson Kinlaw, Randy Rackley Seth Britt, Luke Ray, Hunter Prevatte, and Micheal Sholar.
