SHALLOTTE, NC — Southeastern Christian Academy students marked an important milestone this week as they completed the D.A.R.E. program, celebrating months of learning centered on confidence, responsibility, and making safe, healthy choices.
The program, led by the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, guided students through lessons on decision‑making, peer pressure, and personal well‑being. Staff noted that students showed strong engagement throughout the curriculum, taking ownership of the skills designed to help them navigate challenges both inside and outside the classroom.
During the ceremony, each student was recognized for completing the program, with special acknowledgment given to essay winners Serenity Stephens and Rhys Varnadeaux for their thoughtful reflections on the program’s impact. Their work highlighted the importance of strong character and responsible decision‑making.
Mayor Art Dornfeld attended as a guest speaker, offering encouragement and reinforcing the value of the lessons students learned. School Resource Officer Hardie, who led the program each week, was also recognized for his dedication to building positive relationships with students and supporting their growth.
The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office, based in Supply, continues to partner with area schools to strengthen community connections and support youth development through programs like D.A.R.E.
School leaders said they are proud of this year’s graduates and the strong foundation they are building for the future.
