Oak Island, NC — The Oak Island Police Department is proud to welcome its two newest members, Officer Willow Tighe and Officer Randall Shepherd.

Officer Tighe first joined the Town as part of the Beach Services Unit before enrolling in the Basic Law Enforcement Training program at Brunswick Community College. Upon graduating, she transitioned into her new role with OIPD. A longtime local resident, she is excited to begin her law enforcement career serving the community she calls home.

Officer Shepherd brings extensive experience from his service with the Guilford County Sheriff’s Office, where he rose to the rank of Captain. During his tenure, he served on the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team, Motorcycle Unit, and Airplane Unit. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice management from Liberty University. After retiring from GCSO in 2021, he relocated to Oak Island, where he enjoys an active lifestyle that includes participating in marathons.

These two officers bring valuable skills, dedication, and community spirit to the department, and OIPD looks forward to the outstanding service they will provide to the Town of Oak Island.
