Free public event at Columbus Regional Healthcare System
Whiteville, NC — Columbus Regional Healthcare System is offering a hands‑on way for visitors to learn about colon health during Colon Cancer Awareness Month. On Wednesday, March 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., the hospital will display its inflatable walk‑through colon in the glass main hallway.

The exhibit is a close look at how the colon works and what common conditions, such as polyps, diverticulitis, and other diseases can look like inside the body. Columbus Regional Healthcare System (CRHS) staff will also provide educational materials on the importance of routine colon cancer screening, especially for adults 45 and older.
Community members are encouraged to wear blue to show support for colon cancer awareness and stop by at any time during the day. The event is free and open to the public. It’s a rare chance to say you’ve literally “walked through a colon,” while learning how early detection can save lives.
