A Brunswick County man will serve a minimum of 25 years in prison after being convicted Wednesday in Superior Court on multiple felony charges, including two counts of first‑degree murder.

Lucas Sutton, 21, was found guilty of two counts of first‑degree murder and one count of discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle. A judge sentenced him to 25 years to life, with the possibility of parole, along with an additional 4 to 6 years in the custody of the N.C. Department of Adult Corrections.

According to the district attorney’s office, the case stems from a March 6, 2022 shooting in the Northwest community. Sutton—who was 17 at the time—and co‑defendants Christopher Brooks and Antwan Throne ambushed and fatally shot two victims in a cemetery.

Prosecutors say all three suspects were members of the Rollin 60s, a subset of the Crips street gang.

“Gang violence has no place in our communities and will not be tolerated,” First Assistant District Attorney Jenna Earley said in a statement. “Two young men lost their lives in a senseless and calculated act of violence. Mr. Sutton’s conviction closes the third and final chapter of this horrific novel. We are thankful for the diligent and dedicated efforts of the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation and the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office.”
