OAK ISLAND, N.C. — Beach nourishment efforts are progressing across Oak Island as crews continue sand placement and dredging operations now through January 11, 2026, according to town officials.

Several sections of the shoreline have already been completed, including areas from SE 52nd Street to 5th Place West, 13th Place West to 23rd Place West, and McGlamery Street to Sellers Street.

Work is currently underway in multiple locations. Crews are active between 25th Place West and 33rd Place West, though no work is expected in that section on Tuesday due to dredge refueling. Additional operations are ongoing from McGlamery Street to Barbee Boulevard.

Town officials report that sand placement for the Wilmington Harbor Project has now entered Oak Island at McGlamery Street. With both the Wilmington Harbor and OS‑OKI projects running at the same time, residents should expect activity in several areas of the beach simultaneously.
