System Pressure Advisory Issued for Town of Bolton Water System

UPDATE:
Boil Water Advisory must continue until Tuesday 2.10.2026

February 5, 2026

Bolton, NC — The Town of Bolton Water System has issued a System Pressure Advisory after equipment failure caused periods of low water pressure and outages across the distribution system. According to the notice, the loss of pressure increases the risk of back siphonage and the potential introduction of bacteria into the water supply.

As a precaution, all customers are advised to boil water intended for human consumption once service is restored. This includes water used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food. A vigorous one‑minute boil is recommended to kill any possible disease‑causing organisms.

Water service is expected to be restored later today, but residents are urged to avoid unnecessary water use until the system returns to normal operating conditions. Customers may notice brown discoloration or air in the lines, which can cause water to appear white or grey.
The advisory will remain in effect until further written notice from the Town of Bolton.

The notice was issued by Leonard Hall of the Town of Bolton Water System. For questions, residents may contact the water department at (910) 655‑8945.
