Mayor activates emergency protocols to protect public safety and property
Bolton, NC — Mayor Shawn Maynor has declared a State of Emergency for the Town of Bolton in response to the January 2026 winter storm, citing imminent threats to public safety, property, and the ability of emergency personnel to maintain order.
The declaration, effective January 30 at 3:00 p.m., covers the entire jurisdiction of Bolton and remains in effect until modified or rescinded. It authorizes emergency management personnel and law enforcement under town control to enforce all relevant local ordinances, state and federal laws, and the Columbus County Emergency Operations Plan.
Mayor Maynor stated that the declaration is necessary to maintain order and protect public health, safety, and welfare. The order directs that the declaration be distributed to the public, filed with the Town Clerk, and shared with appropriate agencies to ensure proper implementation.
Town Clerk Arianna Young-Daniels attested the declaration.
