Warming Shelters Open Across Columbus County as Temperatures Drop

County officials urge residents to take precautions during extended cold weather

Columbus County NC — With freezing temperatures expected to settle over the region, multiple warming shelters across Columbus County are now open to assist residents in need. The shelters provide a safe, heated space for individuals and families experiencing homelessness or lacking adequate heat during the prolonged cold conditions.

Cold weather can pose serious health risks, including frostbite and hypothermia.

County officials encourage residents to check on neighbors especially seniors and vulnerable individuals and to follow all public safety guidance throughout the weather event.
