CONWAY, SC — Two pedestrians were hospitalized early Sunday after a hit‑and‑run near Highway 544 and Elvington Loop, according to Conway Police.
Officers responded at approximately 12:16 a.m. after a vehicle struck the pedestrians and fled the scene. Both victims were transported for medical treatment and remain hospitalized.
Investigators later located the suspect vehicle and its driver outside the city limits after it was involved in a separate crash. The driver, Mauricio Palafox Correa, was taken into custody and transported to the Horry County Detention Center.
Correa is charged with Felony DUI and two counts of Hit and Run with Great Bodily Injury. The incident remains under investigation.
