Otto Carl Pade, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Veterans Village Nursing Home in Florence, South Carolina.
Otto was born on July 1, 1941, in Queens, New York, to the late Otto H. Pade and Emma Pade.
Otto lived a full and rewarding life marked by hard work, determination, and an unwavering devotion to his beloved wife, Lucie. As a young man, he proudly volunteered to serve his country in the United States Military as a Military Police Officer. He served honorably for approximately two years before receiving an honorable discharge in 1963.
A natural self-starter with an exceptional aptitude for learning, Otto taught himself many skills, including computer programming at a time when the field was still in its infancy. His intelligence, initiative, and strong work ethic helped him advance quickly throughout his career.
After working for a large flooring and carpet company, Otto fulfilled his entrepreneurial dream by opening his own flooring and carpet business in Vermont. Together, Otto and Lucie successfully owned and operated the business for almost 3 decades, building not only a thriving company but also a life centered on partnership and dedication.
Following the sale of their business, Otto and Lucie enjoyed retirement by exploring new places, first making their home in New Mexico, then Texas, before settling in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, in 2016. There they found their forever home and formed many cherished friendships, considering those friends their family.
Otto and Lucie did not have children, but they shared a lifetime of love and companionship. Otto is survived by his devoted wife, Lucie, who will forever hold his memory close to her heart.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Grand Strand Humane Society.
No services are planned at this time.
Otto will be remembered for his compassion, determination, intelligence, and sense of humor. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Myrtle Beach Funeral Home is assisting the Pade family with arrangements.
