NEWS RELEASE – INTERNET CRIMES AGAINST CHILDREN INVESTIGATION
HORRY COUNTY, SC — On December 1, 2025, the Horry County Police Department received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children after a commercial cloud storage company reported suspected child sexual abuse material on one of its servers.
Investigators with the Horry County Police Department Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Unit and Major Crimes Unit reviewed the information and identified Ian Zegarowski, of Conway, South Carolina, as the individual who uploaded the material.
A search warrant was executed at Zegarowski’s residence, where he was located, interviewed, and confessed to downloading approximately 50 files of child sexual abuse material across multiple platforms.
On January 16, 2026, Zegarowski was arrested and charged with Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, 3rd Degree, for downloading, viewing, and possessing child sexual abuse material.
