SPLASHPAD CLOSURE NOTICE
As of Friday, July 10, Brunswick County has moved to a Stage 3 Water Shortage Warning / MANDATORY Restrictions.
To comply with the new restrictions, the Oak Island Splashpad will be CLOSED until further notice.

OAK ISLAND, NC — The Town of Oak Island announced today that it will shift to a reduced operating schedule for its public splash pad, effective Monday, July 13, 2026. The facility will be restricted to Friday, Saturday, and Sunday operations in an effort to aid regional water conservation.
The decision comes as Brunswick County remains under a Stage 2 Mandatory Water Conservation Alert. With the region currently experiencing Extreme Drought (D3) conditions, local utility providers including Oak Island are working to meet a county-mandated 10% reduction in peak water demand.
Town officials confirmed that limiting the splash pad’s availability is a necessary step to curb non-essential water usage while the county’s alert remains in effect. The town is asking residents and visitors to remain mindful of their water consumption across all residential and recreational activities.
In addition to the splash pad restrictions, residents are reminded that Brunswick County’s Stage 2 alert includes strict regulations on outdoor irrigation. Residents who do not utilize private wells are restricted to irrigation between 8:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. on designated days. Non-compliance with these mandates may result in fines ranging from $300.00 for a first offense up to $5,000 for repeat violations.
