NMB Police Arrest Registered Sex Offender After Alleged Stalking of Juvenile

NMB, SC — North Myrtle Beach Police have arrested Blaine Peter Zdybel, 43, a registered sex offender, after investigators say he followed a 15‑year‑old juvenile twice on Monday while the teen was riding to and from work.

Police report the first encounter happened around 9:52 a.m. on Highway 17 South. A second incident occurred at 3:16 p.m., when the juvenile attempted to evade Zdybel through side streets before locating a North Myrtle Beach firefighter. Investigators say Zdybel fled upon seeing the firefighter.

A coordinated search was launched Tuesday. At 2:37 p.m., Briarcliffe Acres Police conducted a traffic stop on Middle Gate Road, where Zdybel was taken into custody without incident and transported to the North Myrtle Beach Detention Center.

Zdybel is charged with Stalking. Detectives confirm he is a registered sex offender.
