WHITEVILLE — Whiteville City Schools is again stepping in to make sure local children have access to healthy meals throughout the summer. The district’s School Nutrition Program, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is offering free breakfasts and lunches to all children ages 1–18, with no registration or paperwork required.

The program includes a walk‑in meal site at Edgewood Elementary School and a mobile meal box delivery route that brings weekly meal kits directly into neighborhoods across the area.

School nutrition officials say the goal is to remove barriers for families during the months when school cafeterias are closed.

“Every child deserves access to nutritious meals, and we want families to know these resources are here for them all summer long,” the department said in a statement.
