Just when you thought you packed your patience when driving, a 281‑unit proposal would extend the 161‑acre development onto the adjacent Cox Tract, connecting the two residential areas.
Southport, N.C. — Southport Meadows, a residential project first approved in 2022, is now positioned for significant growth as developers advance new phases near the intersection of NC 133 and NC 87 in Brunswick County.
The development, engineered by the Timmon Group, was originally approved for 127 single‑family homes and 118 townhomes across 161 acres. Project documents show that 49 homes are currently under construction, marking steady progress on the initial buildout.
Developers have also placed an additional 200 units under review, signaling a substantial expansion beyond the original plan. A separate proposal outlines 281 more units by extending Southport Meadows onto the neighboring Cox Tract, with roadway connections linking the two communities.
Plans for the development include 3 acres of recreation space, 19 acres of open space, and wide sidewalks throughout the neighborhood. And based on current approvals, population trends, and infrastructure planning across Brunswick County, there is no indication that new construction in the region is nearing an end.
