Southport crews contain restaurant fire within an hour
Southport Fire Department crews responded at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, to a commercial structure fire at the intersection of Howe Street and 11th Street, at the Smoke House restaurant.
Firefighters located active fire at the rear of the building upon arrival and were able to extinguish the fire within about an hour. No injuries were reported.
Utility crews disconnected electrical service to the building as a safety precaution.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
