South Carolina Motorcyclist Killed in Single‑Vehicle Crash Near Tabor City

TABOR CITY, NC — A South Carolina man was killed Saturday night in a single‑vehicle motorcycle crash east of Tabor City, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. The rider was identified as Simon Scott age 47 of Loris, SC.

The crash happened at 8:28 p.m. on June 13, 2026, on Peacock Road in Columbus County. Investigators said Scott was traveling southbound on a Suzuki GSX‑R1000 when the cycle left the right side of the roadway. The motorcycle then ran off the pavement, struck a mailbox, and continued into a ditch. Scott was thrown from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Scott was wearing a helmet. No other vehicles were involved, Troopers reported.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate.
