Event encourages responsible pet ownership and community protection

Fair Bluff, NC — A free rabies vaccination clinic will take place in Fair Bluff on Saturday, June 20, offering no‑cost rabies shots for local pets. The clinic runs from 9:00 a.m. to noon along Riverside Drive and is sponsored by Columbus County Animal Protective Services and the Fair Bluff Chamber of Commerce.

Pet owners are asked to bring dogs, cats, and ferrets on secure leashes or in appropriate carriers. Organizers recommend arriving early to help manage traffic and wait times.

Keeping pets up to date on rabies vaccinations is required under North Carolina law, but local officials say it’s also a core part of responsible ownership. Caring for an animal goes far beyond a dry bowl of kibble – it includes routine vet care, safe handling, and staying current on legally required vaccines that protect both pets and the wider community.
