FDA RECALL: George J. Howe Co. Sunflower Seeds Pulled from Shelves

Recalled products were distributed in North Carolina

FDA RECALL:  George J. Howe Co. is recalling 13,619 pounds of sunflower seeds because the products may contain undeclared cashew, posing a serious risk to anyone with tree‑nut allergies. No illnesses have been reported.

Affected products

  • 11 oz Blue Pouch – Lightly Salted UPC 073171003163 Best By: 08/28/26–12/12/26
  • 11 oz Blue Pouch – No Salt UPC 073171003200 Best By: 09/24/26–12/11/26
  • 9.5 oz Gold‑Label Tub – Roasted & Salted UPC 073171027015 Best By: 07/22/26, 09/05/26

Plastic Stand-Up Pouch Container, 11 oz, Blue with SUNFLOWER SEEDS brand name, “Fresh Roasted Sunflower Seeds, Lightly Salted”, UPC of 073171003163

Products were shipped to North Carolina through major grocery chains including Walmart, Piggly Wiggly, Foodland, Giant Eagle, Shop Rite, Shop N Save, independent grocers, foodservice accounts, specialty retailers, and airport/concession operators.

Consumer are asked not to consume if you have a cashew or tree‑nut allergy and return to place of purchase for a full refund.
