Columbus County Health Department invites residents to help advance firearm safety and injury‑prevention efforts.
Whiteville NC — The Columbus County Health Department is inviting residents to take part in the second meeting of the county’s Firearm Safety Team, a community‑driven initiative focused on firearm safety, injury prevention, and strengthening partnerships across Columbus County.
The meeting is scheduled for June 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. under the pavilion at Fitness Park, located at 131 Government Complex Road., Whiteville.
The Firearm Safety Team is built around four core focus areas: community engagement, public safety prevention, collaboration partnerships, and awareness education. The upcoming session will include a review of progress from the initial meeting, identification of community needs and priorities, development of strategies to increase firearm safety awareness, exploration of ways to reduce risk and prevent injury, and planning next steps with local partners.
The meeting is open to any Columbus County resident interested in participating or contributing to firearm safety awareness efforts. Organizers emphasize that community voices, experiences, and ideas are essential in building a safer county.
