LELAND, NC – A driver is in custody after a high-speed pursuit that ended in a wreck on Sunday evening, May 3.
The incident began when law enforcement attempted to conduct a routine traffic stop on the Highway 17 corridor within the Leland area. According to preliminary reports, the driver failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens, initiating a pursuit that continued along the highway. The chase came to an abrupt end when the suspect vehicle lost control and crashed off the roadway.
