Cooperative awards $90,000 to 62 groups in Brunswick and Columbus counties
Brunswick Electric Membership Corporation has awarded $90,000 in 2026 Community Grants to 62 nonprofits across Brunswick and Columbus counties. The program is funded each year through proceeds from BEMC’s annual equipment auction.
The grants support education, safety, wellness, cultural programs, and community services throughout the region.
Brunswick County recipients include organizations such as Brunswick County Homeless Coalition, Brunswick Senior Resources, Oak Island Water Rescue, Hope Harbor Home, Christian Recovery Centers, Friends of the Library branches, Ocean Isle Museum Foundation, and several church‑based and youth‑focused programs.
Columbus County recipients include Chadbourn Community Library Association, Columbus Community Band, Columbus County Arts Council, Columbus County Beekeepers Association, Nakina Fire and Rescue, Lake Waccamaw Depot Museum, Tabor City Visitor Center, and multiple cultural, civic, and veterans organizations.
